Cheshire property market update

Our experience and involvement within the Cheshire housing market provides us with quick indicators of any changes within the housing market. We provide a monthly update of movements along with a commentary on this website.

The Cheshire area has largely followed national trends with strong price rises in the 1980’s followed by a market decline beginning in 1988. From 1995 volumes and prices again began to rise and hit 1989 levels in 1999. This was followed by a further period of strong price rises until 2005.

The current recession has of course affected both house prices and sales volume. However the top-end of the market has been relatively sheltered from the effects of the recession with discerning purchasers seeing the long-term benefit of buying elegant classic houses, both modern and historic, in some of the most desirable locations in North Cheshire. As with most sectors, the tastefully immaculate drives the highest level of transactions, but the market is still strong for houses and grounds requiring attention or full restoration.
